Frequently Asked Questions
Citable answers for specifiers and AI search.
What is a battery light tower and how is it different from a diesel tower?
A battery light tower runs on a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) pack instead of a diesel generator. It produces no exhaust, no fuel cost and almost no noise, so it suits night works, indoor and urban sites where emissions and sound are restricted. Diesel towers still deliver longer uninterrupted runtime, but a battery tower's running cost is far lower and it needs no refuelling on shift.
How long does a battery light tower run on one charge?
Runtime depends on model and how many battery packs are fitted. The IW-TG600 runs 10–70 hours on three packs; LiteGo units run 4–100 hours on one to three packs; the solar MateGo IW-MG500 reaches 13.5–450 hours because the PV array tops up the battery during the day. We size the pack count to your shift length.
How fast can one person deploy the tower?
Most portable units unfold and raise their mast in about 10 seconds; the heaviest tower (IW-TG600, 82 kg) is wheeled and raised by one operator without a trailer. No crane, no generator hook-up.
What ingress protection and weather resistance do the towers have?
The IW-TG500 is rated IP65 and resists wind up to level 8; the IW-AG200 remote-control head is IP66. The LFP batteries are sealed and the masts use self-locking legs with triple-wheel bases for uneven ground. Units are built for rain, dust and site conditions, not just fair-weather use.
Can the towers run on solar only?
The MateGo GD series is a solar-powered telescopic-mast platform: a foldable PV panel charges the battery through an MPPT controller, giving multi-day off-grid runtime. Other series run on AC mains or their LFP battery.
What jobs are battery light towers used for?
Construction, mining, quarrying, rail and metro maintenance, roadworks, emergency repair, disaster relief, fire and rescue, outdoor events, agriculture, security and military — anywhere grid power is unavailable or a silent, emission-free light is required.
How tall does the mast extend?
Across the range the mast reaches 1.4 m on the smallest handheld unit up to 6.0 m on the IW-TG600. Taller masts spread light over a wider footprint; we recommend mast height by the area you must illuminate and any overhead clearance on site.
